Vision Objects® is a privately held technology provider, founded in 1998, and is specialized in developing high quality handwriting recognition technology for pen-based devices.
MyScript is the first handwriting recognition solution to feature personal recognition profiles, capable of learning the specific writing style of users, thereby achieving unprecedented recognition performance.
Financing
In December 2000, Vision Objects received financing from Business Angels. It was used both to build up the Sales & Marketing team and to finance the development of MyScript® as multiplatform software, addressing all major operating systems (Windows, Palm OS, Pocket PC, Symbian, Linux, etc.) and form factors (such as PDA, Smartphone, TabletPC and Digital Pen&Paper). During 2001, Vision Objects developed cursive handwriting recognition technology to support truly natural handwriting behaviour.
Oséo, formerly Anvar stepped in in 2002 with a warrant investment. This investment was used to reinforce the Research & Development team and develop MyScript Notes. In addition, this investment served to finance the development of multi-lingual handwriting recognition.
In December 2004, Vision Objects raised 2 million Euros through combined investments from XAnge Capital and XAnge Private Equity. This new financing helps Vision Objects to comfort their technological leadership with a continued investment in Research & Development to develop recognition of Western and Asian languages as well as in our international sales and marketing efforts.
Today MyScript is one of the most advanced technologies on the market. MyScript Technology has been recognized as a leading solution for OEM purposes by major players among hardware manufacturers, integrators and software editors.
Awards
Vision Objects was attributed the development prize by Start West 2002. Start West looks to facilitate access to capital for start-ups, to help them in the development of their future projects and to promote the "spirit of entrepreneurs" and innovation in western France.
The same year Vision Objects was elected among the Best 40’s Capital-IT, Spring 2002. Capital-IT is a European organization that aims to discover promising projects at an early stage of development in IT and Life Science Technologies. Capital-IT is a bi-annual initiative that intends to boost the growth of 40 selected start-up companies that previously presented the projects with the highest potential. The selected companies have the opportunity to present their business development strategies to a group of investors and potential business partners that have the means to ensure their continuity and growth.
